It’s probably ridiculous how excited it makes me to realise that the English word ‘knight’ is the same word as the Swedish ‘knekt’. This Middle English business is awesome. And I think I’m going to save the Scandinavian influences for next term for my C paper, because damn, the stuff you can do with all that. Vikings and Old Norse and whatnot.

Holy fuck, I actually got an A on my syntax assignment. I have no idea how that happened, but YAY! No resit!

3-2 against Wigan on Saturday. But damn it, why must they make me suffer and try to give me a heart attack with these late comebacks? Wigan was supposed to be that game I could watch easily and enjoy, maybe won by 3-0. It wasn’t supposed to be a game where Liverpool was down 1-2 but eventually managed to turn the whole thing around in the last ten minutes while I had to cover my eyes. They seriously need to take control of the match earlier. Also, I wish Keane would start showing why he’s on the team.

On a completely different note, why would you object to a lecturer jokingly using the phrase "That’s bullshit" about something written in the coursebook on the grounds that it "doesn’t belong in the academic sphere"? Come on.

Canal+ is showing Liverpool-Wigan despite it not being in the tableau! What a nice surprise!

Come on, you Reds. Don’t make me suffer the way you did against Manchester City. Show me you can win without Nando, like you did against United.

1. Jesus Christ, uni is mental. Seriously.

2. But I’ve got one really interesting essay coming up, in History of English - either about the transition from Old English to Middle English, or about how Scandinavian languages have influenced English. I can’t decide.

3. I can’t stop singing ‘Rule, Britannia!’. It’s partly thanks to the stupid Premier League commerical, partly thanks to the 17th-century-poetry lecture where the line showed up.

4. We started the drama course this week, by watching the film version of The Taming of the Shrew with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. I don’t like that film. Or, rather, I don’t like Richard Burton in that film. His Petruchio makes me want to go take a shower - and I don’t mean that as in ‘cold shower’. He’s just creepy and uncomfortable to watch. I’m still looking forward to doing the actual play, though, even though I do kind of despise the story.

5. Less than four weeks until SwedenFest 2008! V, you HAVE to come down so that we can set some new records.

6. Also, thanks to Harriet, I’m currently dying to go to London and see Blood Brothers again. Excellent.

- I’m exactly the same age as you, Mickey!

- Yeh. But you’re still a kid! And I wish that I could be! And I wish that I could still believe in all that ‘blood brother’ stuff but I can’t, because while no one was looking I grew up, and you didn’t because you didn’t need to! And I don’t blame ya for it, Eddie. Because in your shoes, I’d be the same. I’d still be able to be a little kid, but, I’m not in your shoes. I’m in these. And I’m lookin’ at you, and you’re makin’ me sick.

*weeps*

Thanks a lot, Etty.
