O: Hey, L, did you get a haircut?
L: Uh, no.
O: Huh. Something looks different.
Me: Heh. Boys. You don’t notice actual changes, you just imagine them.
O: It’s true. We just take our chances and hope we get it right every once in a while. I mean, you cut 6 inches off your hair and I didn’t even realise at first.
L: Oh, hey, you got your hair cut?
Me: Yes. Right before we all went out that night two weeks ago.
L: …Oh.
Me: Boys.
I’m moving. I’m actually moving. I’m looking at the keys to my new little one room flat as I’m typing. At the moment I have no idea how long I will be living there, but I’m hoping until October.
So, it’s London next weekend (which, yay) and after that, it’s moving time! Into this house, on the eighth floor:
Day three: Yossi Benayoun is my hero.
We won at the Bernbeau! *dances* I was checking the website compulsively after I got home - I knew there couldn’t be much time left, and when I saw the score had changed from 0-0 to 0-1 I whooped out loud. Second leg, here we come!
In uni news, it’s surprising how well the SI sessions are going so far - I have a fairly stable group of between ten and fifteen students. Now they have started to relax, and they’re a really fun group. When they start talking more freely, take initiative and stop looking to me quite as much, the sessions could be pretty awesome.
Did everyone else know about Etsy before I did? Because I just discovered it through Dooce and That’s Noice and got completely addicted within the first five minutes. Thanks a lot. Just what I needed, a new thing that makes me want to spend money. There is so much awesome stuff!
Like uglyclothes, my new love. She makes, among other things, felted wool zombies and if I had the money, I’d be going crazy with the shopping. I’m going to start collecting them, I swear. I am particularly in love with Penelope the franken-bunny and Henry the hardcore zombie, but they’re all awesome. Just the fact that she has names and background stories for them all makes me giggle. I mean, take Edgar. Who can help but love a vegetarian zombie with a penchant for tofu brains? Not me, that’s for sure.
Dudes. WANT.
Okay, self. Shake it off. Shake it off. Day two: relaxation.
Damn it, I’d just managed to stop singing that song.
Hey, my blog lives! It’s been acting up all day, doing all sorts of strange stuff the few times it was actually available. *pokes it*
Last week I panic-wrote a linguistics assignment - I thought we were meant to hand it in on Wednesday, and discovered on Tuesday morning that we were to hand it in that same day. I realised this at 8 in the morning, and the lecture began at 11. I wrote the entire thing in less than two hours. Found out today that I got 95-100 percent on it. Heh. It just proves I’m right, I guess - I really do work better under pressure.
Daily picture 1: Rah is awesome.
And he’s watching us all
with the eye of the tiger
Man, I almost wish I were a Man United supporter. You have it good, Dawny.
Hey, does anyone remember ‘Freaks and Geeks’? I loved that show. Anyway, I was watching ‘Bones’ earlier and was ogling this yummy boy, when I suddenly realised that he used to play one of the geeks. Dude. When did he get so hot? I felt all pervy when I realised I was ogling geeky little Sam, but damn, people. He grew up!
This Thursday the Shrew crew are getting together to watch the DVD of the performance. That is going to be painful. I mean, I’m really looking forward to seeing the scenes I wasn’t in, but seeing myself on stage? Speaking English? Using strange, homemade accents? DO NOT WANT.
Starting tomorrow I’m going to do a daily photo thing, I think. For however long I can manage to keep it going, anyway.
In which I possibly commit some kind of blasphemy
I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar last night in Malmö, and was surprisingly impressed. I’ve had my reservations about the show, firstly because it is in Swedish, and translations tend to, ah. Bug me. Secondly, Jesus is played by Ola Salo, singer in The Ark, and the show has gotten so much hype because of him it turned me off. Plus I just couldn’t picture him in the role.
But, it is one of my favourite shows, and my apprehension was never going to stop me from seeing it since I adore the music. And I was surprised, in a good way. Salo wasn’t bad, the translation wasn’t awful (though there were a couple of moments when I couldn’t stop the eye-rolling, and a couple of moments when I got sad because I felt the meaning had been lost), the staging was wonderful, and then of course there was Patrik Martinsson. Judas. The reason why I was actually excited about the show and not just seeing it simply because I can’t resist an opportunity to see Jesus Christ Superstar - Salo has nothing on him, he is absolutely brilliant. Fantastic voice. And let me tell you, the fact that his costume consisted of a couple of very, very tight jeans and an open jacket? Didn’t make matters worse. He may be married and have kids, but I totally had a ‘Come to mama’ moment.
The short version - last night, really good. Ola Salo who? Patrik Martinsson, come to mama.
Also, is it inappropriate to say that the kiss between Jesus and Judas was kinda hot? …Meh, I’m an atheist, I don’t care. It was. Unfortunately, the moment was ruined a little by someone in the audience making a highly surprised noise (my dad was quick to assure me afterwards that it wasn’t him). Really, I don’t get how anyone could have been surprised by that kiss, you could see it coming a mile away in this production. Judas totally wanted a piece of that.
I’m gonna growl like a growly thing
I went to look at the most lovely little flat today. Seriously. Lovely. I shall say no more, or I’ll jinx it. But. *crosses fingers*
